Working it out

I don't love gyms.  I don't love exercise classes, but I do like being fit & working out.  Our first foray into at home exercise programs was when we did P90X by BeachBody about three years ago.  It's a popular, good program for a reason: the leader Tony Horton is hysterical and if you "show up and push play" for about an hour a day for 90 days, you get results.  There's more emphasis on weight training and strength than cardio, but overall is a pretty good blend.

We decided to take some time off from running - this past fall, Nick was injured & I don't like to run in the dark, which is hard to avoid with the shorter days.  Sooo... hubs ordered up the "next" program from BeachBody - Insanity.

It was like a big gym full of amazingly fit women (and some men, but they were more weaksauce!).  Who struggled with this crazy work out too!

It's different than P90X of course or it wouldn't be a different program.  It doesn't use anything besides body weight and has a primary cardio focus.  It took me several days to even be able to make it through the WARM UP, much less the regular workout.

Mhm.  That's fo real.

So we made it through that (yay Insanity graduates!!), but Insanity is "only 60" days - so we signed up for the next crazy thing on Nick's list... George St. Pierre's Rush Fit.  GSP is one of the best MMA fighters around and he and his (super dry & boring) trainer Eric have an 8 week program.

George speaks heavily accented, kind of crazy English and is constantly interrupting his trainer (which clearly annoys him).  I think that's my favorite part.

It's got one day of fighting type drills, but the majority is just general working out.  It feels like a blend between the other two programs.  We've finished the first month and are taking a break to head to Italia! But will resume when we return.

There aren't as many inspirational girls, but Victoria is good motivation!!

So initially, one of my 101 was do P90X again - but I've modified it to complete these two.  We took before photos & will take afters, maybe if you're lucky I'll post them some day ;-)

Number 23: Check!  Any body want to borrow some work out DVDs??
