Garden things

My mom and my sister independently gave me tools for growing my own veggies.  Well, I've got my own yard, so why not??  Technically these "things" have been in the works for a while, but are really starting to come to fruition.  Vegition?  Harhar...

Thing 1:  Mom's contribution was a Topsy Turvy planter, as seen on infomercials.

You can buy one here.

Mine currently in action.

The size of my current "crop".  That's the extent of it.  But they ARE growing and more seem to be blooming on other stems.  I can.not.wait. to finally eat my own little tomatoes!

Thing 2:  Yellow squash seeds.  My sister sent me these long ago and I didn't read the instructions well, I just planted the buggars in a planter.  And some how, they've taken well.

A full bowl of squash
But tiny little produce.  I actually didn't know how squash grew, so it's fun to see them finally getting bigger.

Ya learn something new every day... that's the point after all!!

Ok, yesterday's thing

So I've been thinking about doing a thingaday for a while.  Baking is high on the possibilities list because the possibilities are, well, endless.  That, and the fact that we've seen a buncha episodes of cupcake wars lately lead to yesterday's attempt.

Double Dark Chocolate Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Filling

I don't have a piping bag, but I DID have a great desire to try these little nuggets.  And wow-o-wow, if you're looking for a super decadent nom nom dessert, head on over to foodandwine.com

Yep, that's homemade chocolate cupcake, peanut butter filling, and chocolate ganache frosting.  I didn't modify the recipe at all, I'll save that for when my baking skills are a little higher.  I did half the recipe so that we'd have half the number of temptations.  And while they are not the PRETTIEST maybe... they're not too shabby.

I'd call this a successful first thingoftheday!!!

Welcome

Why hello there.  I blogged in the time leading up to my wedding and loved it.  I was creative, I was busy, I had a big goal I was working towards...

And then I had a wedding, a wonderful, fun, successful wedding.  And everything stopped.

Wouldn't it be nice if life had stopped right here?
On the beach in our private cabana on our honeymoon?  Alas.

And now I'm bored.  And feel like a 16 year old crying about there being nothingtodoever

SO!  I thought I was being really creative with my find-one-new-or-different-thing-to-do-each-day-and-then-take-pictures-so-you-can-write-it-down-and-remember-it idea.  But apparently not. (http://thing-a-day.com/ http://www.thethingoftheday.com/ http://thethingoftheday.blogspot.com/  It's even got it's own acronym: TTOTD)

Nevertheless! I still like the idea, so off we go... let's see what we find for today!!!
